From every ending comes a new beginning

Hi Reader!

Fall is officially here! While the days may still be warm here in Colorado, you know it is fall by the cool nights. I am someone who needs a lot of sunshine, but I do love the change in seasons. I look forward to cooler temps, changing leaves, and warm drinks. As this email hits your inbox, I have officially finished my Summer Vibes project for 2023. I started out the idea as an experiment, a personal challenge, to see how consistent I could be over the summer season.

As with any accomplishment, there is a bit of an uncertainty for what to do next. What do I want to paint? Do I want to experiment with color, medium, or technique? Do I want to keep creating finished pieces? Do I want to take an art class and learn from someone? Do I look ahead to the holiday season and consider creating artwork that could work as a product, like ornaments, cards, holiday tags? The honest answer is I'm not sure.

I like to have a plan and next steps, but I also like lots of time to think and mull an idea over before making a decision. This year, I have been trying to lean into what I want to do rather than what my brain thinks I should do. So I'm going to take a little time to think and enjoy the changes that the fall season will bring. Perhaps I will have something to share when my next email hits your inbox.

What is your favorite thing about the fall?

What I'm Watching

I am huge fan of the Yellowstone series. I love the drama, the strong characters, and I love the setting in Montana. Part of me just wants my quiet cabin in the woods. Maybe one day. I really enjoyed the 1923 spin off, moreso than the 1883 spinoff. The love story between characters Spencer and Alexandra was a tad melodramatic, but I do love a romance. The story line of Teonna and her experience in a Native American boarding school is heartbreaking and difficult to watch. Humans can truly be absolutely abhorrent at times. And of course Cara and Jacob Dutton played by Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are a treat to watch. Cara is fierce.

What I'm Reading

I have not read a lot of non-fiction this year. Non-fiction, especially about something historical, takes a lot more brain power, which I feel like I have in short supply this year. But I have always been fascinated by ocean stories and shipwrecks and David Grann's book The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder has popped up on my Goodreads recommendation list for a while. I enjoyed the book a lot, though the ending was a bit anticlimactic. In our modern era where I feel like I might have a panic attack if I truly lost my phone for any stretch of time, it is hard to image being on a ship for months or years at a time with maps that were barely accurate and navigation tools that were wrong more often than they were right.

Hi Reader! Have the days of the week started to blur yet or are you sick of sugar and just want a piece of broccoli? However or wherever you are spending this weird limbo period between Christmas and New Year's Day, I hope that you have found some time for a little relaxation either by yourself or with loved ones. I have spent a lot of time reading, watching movies, and trying to get outside and enjoy the start of the snowy season in Colorado. I'm also thrilled that the days are finally going...

Hi Reader! What a few weeks it has been since my last newsletter. Fall is normally a slower season, but it has felt more chaotic than usual. I've officially committed to buy a new car... still waiting for it to arrive before it's official official. I got through my last on-site programming at the museum and am looking forward to a couple quiet weeks at the end of the month before summer camp registration opens in January... yup you heard me right, summer camp. Oh and the covid finally got me....
