Hi Reader! What a few weeks it has been since my last newsletter. Fall is normally a slower season, but it has felt more chaotic than usual. I've officially committed to buy a new car... still waiting for it to arrive before it's official official. I got through my last on-site programming at the museum and am looking forward to a couple quiet weeks at the end of the month before summer camp registration opens in January... yup you heard me right, summer camp. Oh and the covid finally got me....

Hi Reader! Happy Thanksgiving week to you and yours! I thought that things would settle down post vacation, but that didn't happen. Do you feel the same? When this email hits inboxes I'll be wrapping up a second day of break camp with some kiddos and I am already looking forward to the upcoming long weekend. I hope you get some time to rest and recharge over this Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for each an every one of you who are on my newsletter list and who send me kind responses to my emails...

Hi Reader! Would you consider yourself a risk taker? My initial response to that question was to chuckle and say (to myself), "definitely not, I am a proud card carrying overthinker 🙋 , thank you very much." Then I decided to sit with that idea a little bit. I certainly have not changed my mind, but I would say I am more of a calculated risk taker. I like to think over decisions, admittedly for longer than ususally necessary, but I am comfortable with change and with trying new things. I...

Hi Reader! Fall is officially here! While the days may still be warm here in Colorado, you know it is fall by the cool nights. I am someone who needs a lot of sunshine, but I do love the change in seasons. I look forward to cooler temps, changing leaves, and warm drinks. As this email hits your inbox, I have officially finished my Summer Vibes project for 2023. I started out the idea as an experiment, a personal challenge, to see how consistent I could be over the summer season. As with any...

Hi Reader! Rick Rubin's recent book, The Creative Act: A Way of Being, has been making the rounds on the interwebs and Instagram since its publication in early 2023. I admit that I didn't really know who the music legend was before starting this book, even though he contributed to a lot of music that I enjoy. I kept seeing quotes and audio clips paired with people painting and I decided to place the book on hold at the library. After literally months of waiting, I was finally able to settle...

Hi Reader! If you were with me back in June, you might remember a newsletter where I talked about my main cycling event for 2023, a century bike ride in Red River, New Mexico, getting cancelled due to road construction. While I was bummed at the time, I tried to take it in stride and practice a little positive reframing and focus on the opportunities not training for a bike ride might allow for. Overall, the lack of a major event to train for meant that I had a little more breathing room...

Hi Reader! Happy August! I can't believe we have made it. As this newsletter is hitting your inbox I'm in the midst of the last 48 hours of summer camp intensity. Summer camp is one of those endeavors that both flies by and crawls at the same time. It's an high intensity time of year with the most potential for things not going according to plan, but it is always an adventure. Even on the hardest days it is fun when you get to see kids go home with homemade candles, the pyrite they panned for...

Hi Reader! On July 1, I turned 35. The Big 3 - 5. Not sure if anybody else refers to 35 that way, but I certainly did. My birthday was delightful. Vasya and I cleared our schedules for the day and I got in an early morning bike ride, I played with my new iPhone that Vasya got me (I'm SO excited for all of the painting filming and photographing in my future), then we checked out a new-to-us restaurant Acreage by STEM Ciders (10/10 if you are ever in Colorado), and then watched too much X-Files...

Hi Reader! I'm writing this newsletter as the evening summer solstice light is fighting its way through storm clouds. This week it has finally felt like summer here in Colorado. There has been more sun, less rain, and the creeks and rivers have started to peak from all of the rain we received this spring. A few newsletters ago, I wrote about big summer plans and the busyness that often comes with this season in my work life and personal life. And I was ready for it. I had my lists, my...
